Thanks. So far, it’s an impressive and relevant mystery/noir story set in a very arid, dry, poverty-stricken area in Australia — and some characters in the story are caught up in conspiracy theories exported from the US. My one complaint is that every character sounds exactly the same. It’s been decades since I’ve listened to a reader/narrator who doesn’t change inflection or anything between characters. Yet this was published in 2025! I guess the publisher just thought that a very masculine & gravelly Australian voice was all that mattered, never mind that some of the main characters are women, and there are at least 5-7 main characters.
